Nant Mithil PEDW document finder advice

Use CLUe CPRW LOOK-UP expert to find the documents for your NANT MITHIL response to PEDW

Please note: to view APPLICATION DOCUMENTS you have to download them  – there are no links to particular documents so we can only help you find them on the PEDW website.  The document order has been changing around and is still not user-friendly.  We hope it has settled enough for a useful guide.

CPRW thinks a good, reasoned response on selected topics, or even just one topic, to which you can bring some personal experience, new thoughts or special knowledge, will make the most impression.  Getting key facts right with references to the Application Documents will greatly strengthen your response.

Get going with CLUe  the  CPRW LOOK-UP expert!

The Environmental Statement – what is it? This is the key document for the Inspector’s assessment in 4 Volumes. It describes the project and the likely environmental impacts.  The Inspector has to weigh benefits against environmental harm.

Volume 1 Written Statement with numbered Chapters on these individual topics:

Chapter 1. Introduction
Chapter 2. Approach to EIA
Chapter 3. Site Selection and Design Strategy
Chapter 4. Project Description
Chapter 5. Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment
Chapter 6. Historic Environment
Chapter 7. Ecology (non-avian)
Chapter 8. Ornithology
Chapter 9. Noise and Vibration
Chapter 10. Access, Traffic and Transport
Chapter 11. Hydrology, Hydrogeology, and Geology (including Peat)
Chapter 12. Aviation
Chapter 13. Shadow Flicker
Chapter 14. Climate Change including Carbon Balance Assessment
Chapter 15. Summary of Interrelated Cumulative Effects and Likely Significant Effects

Volume 2. Figures (diagrams, maps, plans, photos etc). These are numbered according to ES Chapter.  There are a lot in Volume 2 and  – BEWARE – even more tucked away in the Appendices.

Volume 3. Appendices. Numbered according to ES Chapter, usually adequately described in the title.

Volume 4. Visualisations. These all go with Chapter 5 . Landscape and visual impact assessment.

Chapter 5, Landscape and visual Assessment, will be the most important to many people because it deals with VIEWS of the wind farm and the visual impact of the turbines on places and properties and also with the cumulative visual impact with other wind farms.  It is the worst to find your way around with loads of Figures, Appendices and technical language.  As well as the Appendices, there are modelled “wire frame” views and photos.

There are numbered VIEWPOINT places VP1 – 28. Locate these on maps  Figs 5.05a and 5.05b (CLU31 and 33). There is a list of the VIEWPOINTs in Table 5.7 in Chapter 5 of the Environmental Statement.

RVVA or RESIDENTIAL VISUAL AMENITY ASSESSMENTS look at individual properties or groups of properties and show models of the turbine views.  To find a list you need to refer to TABLE A2 Appendix 5.07 (CLU 93) where there are 149 properties.

There are more useful documents below the Environmental Statement documents on our CLUe sheet.
